The market has gained further ground in the positive territory in mid-afternoon trade thanks to strong buying at several large, medium and small cap stocks.

Mirroring sharp gains posted by blue chip stocks, the Sensex has stormed past 11,300 to 11,337.89, recording a thumping gain of 810.04 points or 7.7% now. The Nifty is up 6.73% or 220.90 points at 3500.85.

Stock tips for investors

ICICI Bank has come off its high to Rs 434 but still remains the top gainer in the Sensex. At its current price, the stock is up by as much as 19.2% over its previous closing level. Reliance Infrastructure, which had taken a severe hammering in some previous sessions, has posted a handsome gain of 14.95% at Rs 592.25. Sterlite Industries is up by 13.5% at Rs 311. HDFC Bank is up 11.6% at Rs 1167.15. Reliance Communications has gained 10.2% at Rs 261.60.

Stockometer

IT majors Satyam Computer Services (13.5%), Infosys Technologies (9.65%), Tata Consultancy Services (8%) and Wipro (8.2%) have recorded impressive gains.

Top gainers

Larsen & Toubro has gained nearly 10% at Rs 975.75. Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, BHEL, DLF, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC and State Bank of India are up by 6% - 9%. ACC, Grasim Industries, ITC, HDFC, Jaiprakash Associates, Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors and Tata Power are also up with strong gains.

Worst losers

Ranbaxy Laboratories, which had recorded a hefty gain last Friday, is the only stock from the Sensex to trade in the negative territory now. At Rs 286.30, it has lost a little over 2% from its previous closing level.

Among non-Sensex IT stocks, Moser Baer has vaulted nearly 20%. MphasiS has gained 11.7%. Rolta India is up by around 11.15%. Polaris has gained 10.5%. Educomp Solutions, Patni Computer Services, Tech Mahindra, Financial Technologies, GTL, Oracle Financial Services, Subex, HCL Infosys and CMC have also recorded handsome gains today.
