Delhi to get 70 new fire stations
CM Sheila Dikshit made the announcement after inaugurating a Rs 4.5-crore fire station at Hari Nagar in West Delhi
New Delhi: Keeping in view the coming up of new colonies and their need for prompt and better fire services, as many as seventy fire stations will be set up in the capital in the next five years.
This was stated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit here after inaugurating a fire station at Hari Nagar in West Delhi, built at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore.
"We are committed to set up at least one fire station in every Assembly segment to ensure protection against fire tragedies. It is becoming necessary to set up new fire stations as large-scale multi-storeyed buildings and colonies are coming up resulting in more residents in the colony," Dikshit said.
It has been decided to increase number of fire stations to 70 during 11th Five Year Plan period, she added.
"Plots for 26 fire stations have been identified whereas 15 are under constructions. Eight other fire stations at Rohini Sector-15, Sector-5, Tahirpur, Sarita Vihar, Mangolpuri and Jwala Heri are almost complete.
A new fire station at DSIIDC Complex Bawana would also be commissioned during this month," a senior government official said.
